In the summer of 1957, my grandfather realized his dream opening a corner grocery
store in Escanaba, Michigan.
While his store fulfilled a fundamental need, food, it was so
much more, as it was a gathering place where people would congregate, buzzing about the latest
talk of the town. I loved listening to customers talk about a variety of subjects...politics, cars,
clothes, whatever the hot topic might be. While The HobNob is no more, I learned many important
lessons (long before I ever thought about an occupation) about word-of-mouth publicity, the role
the news media plays in sparking conversation and just how important it is to relate to your public.
And so, HobNob Communications was formed, applying years of public relations and communication
experience as well as lessons learned from time well spent at The HobNob.
